Recently, I was working with one of our Hyper-V people, preparing for the deployment of some Hyper-V hosts and noticed that they were seeing the error during the installation wizard:
The domain account specified for the service account could not be verified.
Ensure that the domain name, username, and password are correct, and then try the operation again.
The error continued on, talking about ensuring that a DC was available, etc.
We checked the obvious things, the service account was in the local admins group (as outlined by Microsoft), it also had the Log on as a service right.
In this environment, remote SAM requests are restricted to a specially defined group. In this scenario, the service account was temporarily added to the dedicated Remote SAM users group and worked as expected.
I hope this helps someone who may have been stuck with this issue – I didn’t find too much about it online.
